FASC weekend 2011 in beautiful Bönigen
It was a good idea to shift the traditional Anglo-Swiss weekend from June to September, at least this year. The weather was fantastic – a luxury we haven’t enjoyed for some years – and the fabulous scenery at the lake of Brienz was at its best with the trees just beginning to take on their autumn colours. On top of that the programme was varied, the hotels superb, the food delicious, the dance music a real treat, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Almost 60 people came from all over Switzerland to enjoy boat trips, various sports on the lawn of the Hotel Seiler au Lac, a display of paper cutting, a chalet tour, learning salsa, visiting Interlaken or simply walking along the lake side – and of course enjoying the company of friends, old and new. Some even worked, for the autumn Council meeting of FASC was held on the Saturday morning and included workshops for the first time – a very useful feature which will be kept on the agenda for future meetings.
Many thanks to Brenda and her helpers for organizing it all, Claude for masterminding the sports, and the rest of the team for their part in the success of this event – and particularly FASC president Bob at the helm.
